We recently raised the annual membership to $20, but the benefits of being a member is much more valuable. Friendship with other artists who are open-minded about learning from other local artists is just one of those values. We have a long line-up of great talent for our monthly demos and a wonderful line-up for our Saturday Workshops. A very diversified collection of techniques to learn from some up and coming award winning artists. Here is the list of dates for you to add to your 2016 calendar.
Monthly Meeting January 21st 6:30-8:30 pm Guest Artist will be Spike Ress: His accomplishments in the art world are extensive. His work is represented by several galleries in several states and his love of the outdoors shows in every painting he does. FREE
January 21st 1-3:30 PM (Every Thursday) New 6 week Workshop with John Fackrell: This will be the 3rd workshop presented by John and we will be concentrating on painting a half sheet of watercolor paper, one design. We are considering a snow scene that includes the Park City (White) Barn as a challenge. Cost is $45 and is open to non-members as well, so if you have a friend who would like to attend, please let them know.
January 30th Saturday Workshop 9-3:30 with Jeanie Millecam Members Only $45, (Members Only) limit of 15 seats Topic is: Contour Drawing Workshop A fun day of scribbling & sketching.
Monthly Meeting: February 18th 6:30-8:30 pm Guest Artist will be Colleen Reynolds. Colleen is the current President of the Utah Watercolor Society and teaches at her studio on 21st street. She's won numerous awards and is showcased in most local juried shows. Her topic will be painting a long cat, in a very loose style. FREE
February Saturday Workshop will host Bonnie Tollefson. The date for this workshop has not been determined as of today, but I'll let you know as the workshop draws closer. Bonnie is an exceptional artist with a very loose, flowing style. A student of both David Lobenberg, Colleen Reynolds, Lian Zhen and Jeannie Haines. Bonnie will be teaching her unique style of combined techniques that she learned along the way. A two star member of the Utah Watercolor Society. $45 (Members Only) Limit to 15 seats
Monthly Meeting March 17th 6:30-8:30 Roland Lee will be the featured guest artist. I have never met Roland Lee, but his reputation as a fabulous painter and instructor surpasses him. He will also be the guest artist for a two day workshop with the Utah Watercolor Society on March 18th & 19th. If you wish more information, check out the UWS Website
March 3rd 1:00-3:30 A new 6 week workshop with me, Cindy Powell. This will be an introduction day, to go over the supplies needed, photo op, what preparations need to be made for the first class, which will start March 11th and run through April 7th. Title of this workshop is: Unconventional Watercolor-Abstract Portraits using your own image to create one portrait and using a vintage image to create a practice piece. Watercolor is more than just pigment and water applied with a brush. This workshop allows you to explore many, many other fun options as it progresses over the full 6 week course. $45 (Members Only) Limit to 15 seats

April 16th Saturday Workshop: Ian Ramsey I think we all know and love Ian Ramsey. He's a wonderful instructor, very patient with students and his work is amazing! $45 (Members Only) Limit to 15 seats
Monthly Meeting May 19th 6:30-8:30 Our Guest artist is one of our own: Sharron Bell. Last year she taught us the demanding challenge of painting crystal. We haven't got the details yet about what her demo will involve, but I'm sure it will be amazing! FREE
May 21st Saturday Workshop 9:00-3:30 Sherry Meidell will be teaching us how to incorporate people into our paintings. Sherry is an outstanding, award winning artist who's career includes being an illustrator of children's books. She currently teaches at the Bountiful Arts Center and has won numerous Best of Show ribbons, 1st Place ribbons and recently taught the Plein Air workshop down in Torrey, Utah this past June for the Utah Watercolor Society. "Capturing the Human Figure in Motion" is the topic and it will cover, sketching people and their movements. Then we'll incorporate this knowledge and apply it to an actual painting. $45 (Members Only) Limit to 15 seats

If you know of a local artist who would be interested in doing a demo for the Sandy Watercolor Guild, please give their name to Barbara Glick or Antoinette Jewett, so they can follow up. We will be paying the artists a small fee for their time and shared knowledge. If you know of someone who would like to teach a 6 week workshop, please let me know (Cindy)
September 17th Saturday Workshop 9:00-3:30 Tom Howard will share with us his methods of designing, composing and drawing vast landscapes that greet the plein air painters. It can be overwhelming to some artists, to go out and paint a scene of the countryside, but we'll be staying indoors, where Tom will explain and guide us through the many choices that plein air artists encounter. We will be creating, designing, sketching and painting a landscape. $45 (Members Only) Limit to 15 seats.
