I think this deserves discussion:

A brilliant idea from Judy Ashby:

Sorry I'm not very quick to respond to your thoughts about other Christmas party ideas other than the small watercolor exchange.  I've not been involved nearly as long as many of the folks so there was probably a lot of  thought put into deciding to exchange little paintings among ourselves.  Ive just thought it an unusual tradition.  I've thought a few times that as an art  organization it might be fun and thoughtful to do something for others. One thing that came to mind would be that since we are an art group, maybe donating art supplies and materials to a kids group that works with kids/families that have very little would be appreciated.  Such as at community centers, after school programs. Salvation Army, women's shelter-YWCA etc.

I'm probably not someone who knows much about local non-profit organizations here ---- but maybe someone else has a thought.  Then bring any/all new art materials, unwrapped to party and deliver to a group someone has connected with so they would know we are doing it.

Just a thought,  I'm sure there are many other worthwhile ideas, probably even better ones.  Maybe its too short a time to do this year, maybe think ahead to next year.

Tx, judy
Karla here: I think that in addition to art supplies for kids and adults, it might be a grand scheme to include some instruction at the women's shelter. We know how healing and peaceful painting can be. I'd be happy to help with this.
