THE WILD SIDE OF

Painting on Yupo and Terraskin
Brand Papers
This
class will experiment with alternative papers. The first class will be spent
getting acquainted with the qualities of these papers. Subsequent classes will
be spent painting a class painting and/or painting an image(s) brought from
home.
Yupo is a synthetic “paper” that is
very slick, won’t absorb water, and can be taken back to white paper in the
first washes.
TerraSkin is an organic paper made with
rock dust and binders. It is similar to Yupo, but has a softer surface. Water
will sit on top until dry. It can be taken back to white in the first washes.
Both
papers can be purchased through Cheap Joes online. Yupo is also available at
Blicks in Sugar House.
Materials List
Bring your usual paints, brushes,
paper towels, and water container, etc.
You will also need a board and
clips or tape to attach the paper to the board.
Hair dryer
Yupo paper (pad of 11x14 sheets, 20
sheets, is very convenient and can be shared)
I will bring TerraSkin paper with me to the class for purchase if
desired.
