January 7, 2018

Welcome to the new year! 2018 promises to be an exciting time for the Guild. We have a plethora of talented artists willing to share their expertise and talents with us. I hope you can join us!
Here's how our calendar is shaping up for now:

JANUARY 18:  (Third Thursday) Cindy Baldassin. She says she has a surprise for us and she will provide the materials! So just come, ready to charge ahead at 5:30 p.m. at the Sandy Senior Center.

FEBRUARY 15: (Third Thursday) Elena Lawrence. Have a look!
FEBRUARY 17: (Third Saturday) John Fackrell will lead us in painting a snow scene.

MARCH 15: (Third Thursday)  Gail Wilhelmsen:   https://www.google.com/search?q=gail+wilhelmsen+art&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiglrDXiMfYAhVo04MKHTHPB6YQsAQIKA&biw=1019&bih=598

Four Thursdays in March-April (to be arranged) Tom Howard: Thursday afternoons 1:00-3:30

APRIL 21 (Third Saturday): Ian Ramsay

MAY 17 (Third Thursday): Bonnie and Jim Zinanti

Coming in June:  Lester Lee, to be arranged.

LOOKING AHEAD: We hope to have a plein air experience with Maggie Harrison in September; something always fun from Virginia Kimball, and Mary Pusey will be with us October 18 (Third Thursday)  and again in November for a daytime series.

NEW BUSINESS: Membership this year will be $25 and will include a directory. Please get your membership dues in and your  (new) contact information to Karla. If you're already in the old directory, we'll keep you in the new one unless you have a new phone number or address. Thank you!
Our contribution to the Sandy Center at the end of 2017 was the purchase of a new overhead camera which will be very convenient for our demonstrations! We also contributed to the purchase of John Fackrell's beautiful and amazing painting of  Monarch Butterflies which now hangs above the mantel in the gathering room at the center. As always, we express our gratitude to the Sandy Senior Center for providing a perfect space for our adventures.
We are gearing up again for Monday studio time 1:00-3:30 and Thursday tutorials or free painting in the cafĂ© 1:00-3:30. Check the studio door downstairs (our "bulletin board") for the weekly plans for Thursdays. Feel free to make requests for topics we might share from online resources or through the use of our DVD library, which I hope to grow this year. In the past we've had fun following along with Bev Jozwiak, Jean Haines, Geoff Kersey and others.
I hope to see you there! Memberships, $25,  can be paid at any time now. Please make checks payable to Sandy Senior Center. They can be handed to Karla or mailed to 8751 Oakwood Park Cir. Sandy, UT 84094 Thanks!
Karla
